Public benefits

The direct benefits flowing from purpose 3.1 include increased safety and reduced risk for victims of domestic and sexual abuse through the provision of a safe emergency accommodation. The direct benefits following from purpose 3.2 include increased safety and reduced risk through outreach one-to-one support provided to victims of domestic and

sexual abuse. Provide information on external agencies, refer to and advocate on behalf of clients. The direct benefits flowing from purpose 3.3 include the increase in information and advice on safety planning, health issues, housing, finances and benefits, obtaining court orders and court support. The direct benefits flowing from purpose 3.4 include increased education imparted through the delivery of Domestic Violence Awareness Sessions to community groups, statutory agencies, health care and criminal justice providers in the community. We advance the education of young people through Heading for Healthy Relationship programmes, increasing awareness on healthy relationships, the warning signs and prevention of unhealthy relationships. The direct benefits flowing from purpose 3.5 include increased education for our clients on the effects of domestic and sexual abuse. Facilitating My Life My Choice, Journey to Freedom, Right to be Safe and Change and Transition in the Third Age for women and facilitating Helping Hands, When Mum and Dad Separate and U for children and young people we provide education on promoting healthy relationships and preventing future abuse. The direct benefits flowing from purpose 3.6 include the reduction in suffering and distress on women and children caused by violence and abuse and increased protection and preservation of their mental and physical well-being. The benefits from purpose 3.1, purpose 3.2 and purpose 3.3 are demonstrated through safety and support plans completed with women and children throughout their journey at Fermanagh Women's Aid and their exit plan upon leaving the service. The direct benefits from purpose 3.4 are demonstrated through pre and end evaluations from individuals who attend Domestic Violence Awareness Sessions and young people who attended Heading for Healthy Relationships. The direct benefits from purpose 3.5 are demonstrated through pre and end evaluations and feedback from women and children who participate in the programmes. The benefits from purpose 3.6 are demonstrated through regular evaluations with women and children regarding service provision, accessibility, availability and improvement. We have identified no harms or risks arising from the purposes of our organisation in the support of victims of domestic and sexual abuse. The charity's beneficiaries are women (aged 18+) and children and young people (aged 4 - 18) who have experienced domestic and sexual abuse. They also include young people who have experienced domestic abuse in their own intimate relationships. There are no private benefits flowing from the purposes identified.

What your organisation does

Fermanagh Women's Aid provides a safe and supported environment for women and children in the community who experience domestic and sexual abuse. We provide one-to-one emotional and practical support to women (aged 18+) in our Floating Support Team and children and young people (aged 4-18) in our Children's and Young People's Services. We provide

Emergency Accommodation to women and their children who need to leave their home in emergency situations. We provide educational programmes to children, Helping Hands and Heading for Healthy Relationships. We offer women personal development and educational programmes, My Life My Choices and Journey to Freedom.

Charitable purposes

The Objects of the Charity for the benefit of the public are: 3.1. to relieve distress and suffering by the provision of safe temporary accommodation for women and their children, young people and vulnerable adult dependents who are, or have been, experiencing domestic, sexual or gender based violence or abuse; 3.2. to relieve distress and suffering experienced by women and their children, young people and vulnerable adult dependents by providing and/or promoting a range of support services such as information, advice centres, confidential services, counselling, outreach, court support, training and advocacy; 3.3. to relieve those in need by the provision of information and advice for those affected by domestic, sexual or gender based violence or abuse and referral to relevant support agencies; 3.4. to advance education on violence against women and girls, including trafficking and exploitation, and its effects, and to relieve those in need by promoting its prevention and the protection of those affected; 3.5. to advance education on domestic, sexual and gender based violence and abuse and their effects, and to advocate for and to relieve those in need by promoting their prevention and the protection of those affected; 3.6. to advance women’s and children’s human rights and gender equality to relieve the suffering and distress caused by violence emanating from the violation, impairment or nullification of enjoyment of their human rights and fundamental freedoms.
