Public benefits
The Mary Anderson Foundation provides grants to other charities and organisations which help with the relief of those in need by reason of youth, age, ill health, disability, financial hardship, bereavement or other disadvantage within Northern Ireland. The Public Benefits which flow from this are better educational outcomes for young people,
improved physical and mental health wellbeing, lower levels of stress and anxiety, and better quality of life. These benefits are evidenced through feedback from these charities and organisations by way of letters, social media posts and phone calls. All grants will be assessed prior to being awarded to both ensure this purpose is fulfilled and that the benefits outweigh any potential harm. The charity’s beneficiaries are people living within Northern Ireland and as we make grants to other charities and organisations, their beneficiaries are ultimately our beneficiaries. There is no private benefit flowing from this purpose.

The Mary Anderson Foundation is a grant making organisation which supports other charities and organisations. Funds are generated within the Mary Anderson Foundation by way of hosting sporting events, extreme challenges, gala nights and coffee mornings. Donations are also received through it’s website. Over the past couple of years, events,
particularly sporting events, have been organised where members of the public will pay to participate. Generally, the charity/organisation that will benefit from the proceeds of the event will be known prior to the staging of the event.
