Public benefits

The charity is open to all and for the benefit of all people. The particular benefit that is delivered is the provision of private prayer for healing and public services of worship directed towards prayer for healing. The Charity is a Ministry of the Church of Ireland and is responsible to the Church of Ireland with all the moral benefits that

ensue. This is avowed and declared publicly in the Memorandum of Association, the Church of Ireland directory, the Church of Ireland web site, in the Ministry literature and Ministry website. The benefit is that it is overseen by the Church of Ireland, it adheres to the doctrines and practices of the Church of Ireland and is governed and staffed by Church of Ireland ordained ministers, diocesan and parish readers and church laity. The public benefit results in greater spiritual well-being, increased psychological comfort and physical healing. Regular religious healing services are widely publicised in churches of all denominations, the press and public displays, and held weekly at Belfast Cathedral, fortnightly at our premises at 162 Upper Knockbreda Road, Belfast and monthly at Down Cathedral. There is open access at the Ministry premises and this results in prayer for healing, anointing, and healing services on a daily basis. Regular and emergency prayer lines offer intercessions on request. The ministry practices and promotes Christian Healing in Ireland for the benefit of the public in accordance with the teaching of the Holy Bible and the doctrinal beliefs embodied in the Apostles Creed and the Nicene Creed. Christian healing is the action of asking Jesus Christ to intercede in any situation of distress of mind, body and soul so that He might bring wholeness and healing. Anointing with oil is the act of touching or smearing with consecrated oil to signify God’s blessing and it is widely used in religious ceremonies and in private prayer for healing. The oil itself does not have any power, it is of what God is doing. Direct benefits can be evidenced as follows: - Testimonies of those who have benefited. No Potential Harm. In the delivery of the ministry of healing the benefits outweigh any potential harm. Members of the public who seek assistance through the ministry of healing do so on a voluntary basis, with the choice of continuing to seek this ministry, or not to do so, a matter for their own discretion. The ministry has been functional since 1932, and those delivering the ministry include ordained clergy of the Church of Ireland, Church of Ireland lay readers and accredited Christian counsellors. There is strict supervision, peer group supervision and continuing education governed by the Board which ensures that no harm occurs from any of our purposes. Private benefit There are no private benefits relating to the carrying out of our purposes to any individual or organisation. The ministry is free at the point of need.
