Public benefits

The trustees believe that both our purposes satisfy both elements of the public benefit requirement. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include the alleviation of suffering of children in Northern Ireland with or affected by long term or terminal illness, physical or mental disability and bereaved children and their families by

providing trips to Lapland and other locations and other social, therapeutic, leisure and entertainment facilities. These benefits are demonstrated through feedback the children and persons participating in these activities, parents and health care professionals. There is a slight risk that participation in these activities could adversely affect the medical condition of the children participating in these activities. However this risk is assessed and managed by health care professional and the benefit of participation in the activities greatly outweighs the harm. The beneficiaries of this purpose are children in Northern Ireland with or affected by long term or terminal illness, physical or mental disability and bereaved children and their families. A private benefit to trustees may arise from our programme of ongoing training in good governance, finance etc. Through this training trustees gain skills and experience which are transferable to other settings. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries.
