Purpose 1: Advance education for parents The direct benefits which flow from this purpose are: Improved and strengthened family cohesion for all children and their families, including those who have experienced or are experiencing separation. Separated parents / carers / parents will gain greater parenting skills, knowledge and understanding
leading to improved relationships and a better quality of life for children and families. Parents / carers are less stressed in their parenting role. Parents / carers / children will experience improved emotional wellbeing More children will have increased resilience and coping mechanisms to overcome adverse circumstances due to their parents having increased skills, knowledge and understanding of parenting. Our support for parents is in the context of early intervention, preventing situations escalating to the point where they require more costly and time consuming interventions. These benefits are evidenced through: Feedback from attendees at parent programmes, parent workshops and practitioner training sessions which are delivered across Northern Ireland. Results from the Parenting Stress Scale measure The purposes of our charity do not lead to any harm. The charities beneficiaries are: People living in Northern Ireland who have attended our parent programmes, parent workshops or practitioner training sessions which are delivered across Northern Ireland. The only private benefit flowing from this purpose is that staff involved in the delivery of the programmes, workshops or training sessions will benefit from the knowledge they have gained as employees. Purpose 2: Promote physical, emotional and mental health of children by developing and offering programmes of assistance to families The direct benefits which flow from this purpose are: Children will have improved confidence, self esteem and levels of cooperative behaviour. Family cohesion will be improved and strengthened for all children and their families, including those who have experienced or are experiencing separation. Children will have improved family relationships. These benefits are evidenced through: The numbers of families contacting the telephone Helpline and accessing counselling . Use of Likert attitudinal scales which measures improved confidence and self esteem in children An online survey for clients using the Helpline which measures client expectation and satisfaction. The number of practitioners attending programmes and workshops and giving feedback. 'Strengths and Difficulties' questionnaire (SDQ) which indicates the level of change in children's co-operative behaviour. The Likert attitudinal scales which measure improvement in confidence and self esteem in children. The purposes of our charity do not lead to any harm. Parenting Focus (previously Parenting NI) is a well recognised leading parenting support organisation whose work has evolved to reflect the changing needs of parents, the developments in government strategy, policy agendas and up to date research. Parenting Focus is committed to supporting parents and ensuring that their voices are heard whenever
decisions are made that will affect them. The high quality support and services offered include:- 1. Support Line – offering a freephone information and support service for parents and family members to listen to concerns and offer reassurance to help them through any parenting challenge they are facing. 2. Programmes and workshops for parents - the themes of the programmes reflect the needs of parents and the delivery methodology used in each programme is designed to create the most appropriate environment for parents in order to maximise their learning. 3. Family Support Services - support for families including Dads Support. 4. Parental participation - allowing parents to have their say on issues affecting them. 5. Employee Wellbeing - giving organisations the tools to support their parent employees. 6. Training - for professionals working with parents and families.
