Charitable purpose: Health and saving lives, for the community of Newcastle and District: Public element: MYMY's beneficiaries are people who suffer from mental distress, suicidal tendencies and/or self-harming who are located in Newcastle and District but also to anyone suffering from mental health despair in Northern Ireland who wish to prevail

of our services either by phone or email or by visiting our office. Benefits for each purpose: I. MYMY works for the assistance of the persons who are suicidal, despairing or in distress and thus reduce the incidence of suicides and self-harm by providing or assist in providing support, information and appropriate services and referral for treatment from professionals to enable such persons to receive immediate help, compassion and friendship; a. The benefits are increase of mental health well-being, saving lives, reduce of suicides, reduce of self harming, providing adequate support and information in order to reduce the despair, increase awareness and reduce the stigma linked to mental health issues, reduce isolation of people suffering from mental health issues. II. Alleviate distress and offer assistance to people who have suffered loss through suicide or anguish through self-harm by loved ones, in particular by the development of support systems within the community; a. The benefits are reduce the isolation of people suffering from mental health issues, improve mental health well-being, provide support and information to increase knowledge and reduce stigma, reduce isolation for people suffering from bereavement, improve the integration of such people in the community and the solidarity of the community, reduce distress and hardship, protect vulnerable people. III. Promote the fostering of positive mental health and to improve the emotional wellbeing of people residing in the area of benefit; a. The benefits are reduce stigma linked to mental health issues, increase the service usage in order to get help and support, improve mental health wellbeing and awareness, improve knowledge of mental health well-being, reduce mental health issues, increase help and support available. IV. Advance the education of the public into, and raise awareness of, the causes and effects of suicide and selfharm and into matters relating to the nature of grieving, bereavement and the treatment and rehabilitation of individuals that selfharm. a. The benefits are increase awareness and reduce stigma linked to mental health issues and suicide/selfharm, increase knowledge on mental health well-being and illness, increase knowledge of support and help available, reduce isolation, increase communication and support available. All these benefits can be demonstrated through the increased number of people who contact MYMY, the increase of counsellors available to provide counselling and the number of clients attending, the number of people who visit us on a daily basis. We also receive positive feedback from our users who express their gratitude by raising funds for our charity and by bringing people they know who are in despair to our services. The success of our charity can also be measured by the number of referrals we receive from our local surgery and other local agencies. Our support groups are attended regularly and we see the benefit directly in the users as they change week by week and become more confident. Any harm that MYMY could bring is highly outweighed by our benefits. We have strong policies and procedures in place to reduce the risk of any harm such as breach of confidentiality. Our volunteers are trained in safe talk, child protection and vulnerable adult protection. They are all Access NI checked.

What your organisation does

MYMY offers integrative counselling to those facing issues such as anxiety, bereavement, stress. We facilitate complementary therapies for our service users such as mindfulness and yoga. We offer training and workshops to raise awareness on various mental health topics. We provide information and support by signposting users to other support

services such as debt advice. We have a facebook page where people can contact us and self refer. We offer support groups on a weekly basis.

Charitable purposes

The objects of the Association shall be to: i. Support individuals who are suicidal, despairing, in distress or who are self-harming by providing advice, information and appropriate services to enable such persons to receive assistance in a compassionate, efficient and professional manner; ii Work to alleviate the distress and provide support, to people who have suffered bereavement, through suicide or natural causes and assist those who suffer anguish as a result of self-harming by loved ones. Through the development of appropriate support systems within the area of benefit; iii Promote and raise awareness of positive mental health and to improve the emotional and physical wellbeing of people residing in the area of benefit; iv Advance the education of the public in, and raise awareness of, the causes and effects arising from poor mental health, suicide, grief, bereavement and self-harm, and support the rehabilitation of those individuals who have experienced them.
