Public benefits
High Kirk Social Action in our Community meets the public benefit requirement by providing benefit to its members and the general public by relieving those in need by reason of youth, age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage and making known the Christian Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ through the advancement of
religion. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include: Pastoral care (including for those in financial hardship, the sick, disabled and bereaved). Spiritual and moral development. Ministry to and relief of the needs of children and young people, those in financial hardship, the sick, disabled and bereaved The protection of children and vulnerable adults. The promotion of Christian values. The delivery of Christian service. The presentation of the teachings of the Bible along with opportunities for appropriate response. The production of appropriate literature and associated material in physical and a digital formats. Making available activities that seek to promote an understanding of Christian beliefs as set out in the Bible through practical expression of Christian beliefs and standards in the local community. The support of individual Christians and other Christian organisations. The support of secular organisations and charities. The training of volunteers which is necessary in order to further our relief of need and advancement of religion charitable purpose and which enables and enhances the delivery of most of the other benefits. The above benefits are delivered locally by our members. The benefits are made known though the production of appropriate literature and associated material in physical and digital formats. The benefits are demonstrated through regular evaluation of the services and informal and ad-hoc feedback from those whose needs are being relieved, their families, and members of the public. The purpose does not lead to harm. The only private benefit flowing from our purpose is related to those who receive benefits as a result of their holding office or employment. However, this is incidental and necessary in order to further our advancement of religion charitable purpose. There are no other private benefits. The beneficiaries of this purpose are members, their families, other individuals that the organisation is in contact with locally, the community in which we minister; and various individuals and communities throughout Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, and worldwide who benefit from our engagement with and support for individual Christians and other secular and Christian organisations and charities, either directly or through our contribution to the purpose of our denomination.
