Public benefits
The Association is established to provide relief of poverty, suffering and distress and in particular to establish within Northern Ireland houses and residential accommodation to give shelter and care for homeless people being in necessitous circumstances. The directors believe that the purpose of the organisation satisfies both elements of the
public benefit requirements and that the direct benefits which flow from the Simon Community NI’s purpose are relief from poverty, suffering and distress for those who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless in Northern Ireland as well as provision of support and accommodation for those who are homeless in Northern Ireland. These benefits are demonstrated through feedback from our clients, the successful transition of our clients into their own private rental arrangements and those who have avoided becoming homeless through community based support and educational programmes. There are also regular independent evaluations of our services by the Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority. The purpose of Simon Community NI does not give rise to any harm and the beneficiaries are people living in Northern Ireland who are homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless. There is no private benefit arising from the organisation’s purpose.
