Public benefits

The trustees believe that our purposes satisfy the Public Benefit requirement. Purpose 1 The benefit that flows from this is the advancement of education and improvement of health, the advancement of citizenship or community development. The benefits are the increased knowledge and skills of participants and encouragement of lifelong learning

which in some cases improve chances of employability. It also raises the awareness of the importance of health and wellbeing in our community, including mental health, as there is a reduction in social isolation and levels of stress and anxiety and an increase in the provision of facilities. This is evidenced through the increased numbers of activities provided, general feedback and general government statistics. There is no harm associated with this purpose. Our activities benefit the elderly and those living on low incomes in the Larne area. Any private benefit is incidental in terms of enhanced health and wellbeing and improved access to services and facilities. Purpose 2 The benefit that flows from this is the relief of those in need through decreased financial hardship and increased access to benefits and advice. This is evidenced by the partnerships we have made with the support agencies in this field of work. We have had positive program evaluations and personal feedback about additional income from entitlements and improved living conditions. The trustees do not see any potential harm. Our activities benefit the elderly and those living on low income in the Larne area. The only private benefit is the additional knowledge gained but this benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to the beneficiaries.
