Purpose (1) – The benefits that flow from this purpose are: I. improvement in mental health and emotional well-being of survivors of sexual violence under advancement of health or the saving of lives benefit, II. reduction in self-harm, suicides and suicidal ideations III. increase in social interactions, self-esteem, and improved relations with
friends/family Benefits are demonstrated by measure of clinical outcomes, end of counselling evaluations and sroi analysis. There is risk for some who will revisit the trauma. This is managed by risk assessment and focus on providing a safe therapeutic place. Providing this service can be stressful for therapists who receive clinical supervision to ensure risk is managed. The beneficiaries are survivors of/those affected by sexual violence across NI. The age range is 11+ but the aim is to extend this to post primary. The private benefits are Board members receive training which can be used in other roles and is incidental. Purpose (2) – The benefits fit under the advancement of education benefit include providing awareness/training to prevent sexual abuse/rape, increase knowledge of potential dangers. These are demonstrated through course attendance statistics/end of course evaluations. Discussion of sexual abuse may lead to the harm of triggering past abuse for someone listening, this harm can be helped by the benefit of providing information on relevant support. The beneficiaries are the whole of Northern Ireland. The extent of sexual violence means that everyone should be aware of sexual abuse, rape and grooming to prevent and identify risk situations and enable access to support. There is a charge for some training. The organisation can benefit when profitable which is unrestricted income and used for the charity’s benefits. Purpose (3) - Nexus provides education programmes on the theme of sexual abuse, under the advancement of education benefit, benefiting young/vulnerable people and teachers/carers to increase knowledge in how to protect/support and understand the impact of sexual abuse/rape. These benefits are demonstrated through course attendance statistics/evaluations. Nexus provide education throughout NI. Education does result in disclosure of sexual abuse and this can be traumatic. Staff are trained to minimise risk and ensure the victim is supported and child protection/vulnerable adult policies adhered to. No unintended beneficiary has been identified. Purpose (4) - The benefits fit under the advancement of health or the saving of lives benefit, allow the charity to develop support services to victims/families. Most victims of sexual abuse suffer multiple mental health issues and in future the charity may offer wider counselling dealing with subjects such as addictions, self-harm prevention, and sexual dysfunction. This purpose gives the ability to improve our range of services. Counselling or support offered is subject to evaluation by using recognised current methods. The intended beneficiaries are victims of abuse and their families throughout NI. There is a small increase in risk for some who revisit the trauma. This is managed by risk assessment and focus on providing a safe therapeutic place. No unintended beneficiary has been identified.

We provide education services on keeping safe sexually and personal development, sexual exploitation and grooming, and specialised support for vulnerable young people. Nexus NI provides training and raises awareness on
