The Trustees believe that Purpose 1 satisfies both elements of the public benefit requirement. The direct benefits include improved outcomes for mental, emotional and physical well being with reduced suicidal ideation, to those who are suicidal. These benefits are demonstrated through a reduction in the numbers of service users who go on to take
their own lives and also regular feedback and evaluation of services from service users and health care professionals. It is not anticipated that any harm will arise from this purpose. eneficiaries of th purpose are those members of the general public throughout Northern Ireland who are suicidal, despairing or in distress. The Trustees believe that Purpose 2 satisfies both elements of the public benefit requirement. The direct benefits include lowered levels of distress and suffering and anguish due to loss through suicide by loved ones and increased levels of support within the community. These benefits are demonstrated through a reduction in the number of bereaved service users who go on to take their own lives and also regular feedback and evaluation of services from service users and health care professionals. It is not anticipated that any harm will arise from this purpose. The beneficiaries of this purpose are those persons who have suffered loss and anguish through suicide by loved ones. The Trustees believe that Purpose 3 satisfies both elements of the public benefit requirement. The direct benefits include improved levels mental health and emotional wellbeing . These benefits are demonstrated through monitoring and evaluation of numbers who access services and also regular feedback and evaluation of services from service users and healthcare professionals. It is not anticipated that any harm will arise from this purpose. The beneficiaries of this purpose are people residing in Belfast, particularly North Belfast and its environs, (the “area of benefit”). The Trustees believe that Purpose 4 satisfies both elements of the public benefit requirement. The direct benefits are the increased knowledge and awareness of the public into the causes and effects of suicide and into matters relating to the nature of grieving and bereavement. These benefits are demonstrated through regular feedback and evaluation of services from service users who attend training and awareness events and public health education professionals. It is not anticipated that any harm will arise from this purpose. The beneficiaries of this purpose are those who are suicidal, despairing or in distress and other members of the public. Reference each of the 4 purposes, a private benefit to trustees may arise from our programme of ongoing training in good governance, finance etc. Through this training trustees gain skills and experience which are transferable to other settings. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries.

Crisis Interventions Sometimes in life we face challenges which can be overwhelming, leaving us feeling alone, depressed, hopeless, anxious or suicidal. Our crisis intervention service gives you the opportunity to speak with someone and talk about how you feel in a safe non-judgmental environment and is a route to access other services, both
within and outside of Lighthouse, to help restore your mental health and wellbeing. Counselling Clients benefit from a therapeutic process where they can work through issues impacting on their mental wellbeing, in a safe, non-judgemental environment, where clients can acknowledge and explore their thoughts and feelings. Family Support Services Offering one to one practical and emotional support, in the aftermath of a death by suicide. Our family support worker can provide a listening ear and sensitive approach to a very painful and distressing experience. Hope, Heal & Help Groups Support groups at Lighthouse provide a safe, professionally facilitated environment, where you can meet others who have been bereaved by suicide, hear their stories and share your experience. Your recovery from the loss of your loved one may well be a long and painful journey, but at Lighthouse you do not have to travel alone. Youth Service Providing positive mental programmes to young people in schools; youth centres and community groups, through group work and adventure learning. Complementary Therapy Complementary therapies provide a safe place and holistic approach to enable users to let go of physical aches and pains, promote relaxation and also a space to clear and relax the mind. Art Therapy A great tool to help using self-expression and non-verbal communication. through the work of art. Befriending Service offered to people who have been bereaved to suicide or who are in crisis.
