Public benefits

Kilimanjaro Africa Water project meets the public benefit requirement by ensuring that some of the most remote impoverished parts of Tanzania in East Africa are facilitated with running water and all the positive effects that ensue from that. Access to this most basic need is the first step out of poverty. On previous missions to Tanzania a team of

specifically trained volunteers have drilled various wells to retrieve clean accessible water. Providing this creates foundation on which communities can grow and an opportunity to break the cycle of poverty and ill health. When water comes every thing changes - Over the years, and as a result of having running water, the charity has facilitated the building of medical centres, health clinics, schools and workshops in extremely rural areas of Tanzania. The centres, schools and workshops are worked by local Tanzanians. This allows the community to be self-sufficient and sustainable. This benefit is demonstrated by regular contact with the priest in the local area. He advises the trustees of how life in the locality has changed as a result of easy availability of water, of how crucial it is to the daily needs of locals and also how beneficial in undertaking larger scale projects in the area. Also the trustees make periodic visits to the area and have witnessed first-hand the impact fresh water has on the locals daily living and the activities that can now take place. The purposes of the charity are not likely to lead to any harm. The beneficiaries are the general public living in the area local area within which water is sourced and made available to. No individual gains any private benefit from the purposes of the organisation.

What your organisation does

Every year prior to travelling to the mission in East Africa, committee members and advisors carefully plan the construction and prepare the materials for the completion of each individual project. At the backdrop of all projects is of course fund raising and each year an annual fundraising charity function is held a few days after Christmas. Last

year generous donations funded the shipment of a 20ft container packed with essential items to aid the mission. Some of the main materials included: - Water pumps, both motorised and hand - Water purification systems - Plumbing equipment - Toilets and wash hand basins Some months later after the container has departed it will reach its destination and the volunteers will fly out to implement the work and complete the projects.
