The Advancement of Education To advance education to individuals with learning and intellectual disabilities primarily in the Northwest of Ireland but also in other parts of the world by associating the statutory authorities, businesses, schools, community and voluntary organizations. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include

provision and assistance of programmes of education including accredited and vocational training designed to assist the beneficiaries to lead to employment and their personal development. Other benefits include the development of model methodologies, and to conduct research in an effort to promote good practice in the design and delivery of such educational, vocational and life skill programmes. These benefits are demonstrated through the number of programmes of education available in relation to vocational and life skill programmes, based on identified need, abilities and personal choice of each individual. These programmes of education include Newhop Skills for Work; Newhop Skills for Independent Travel; Personal Confidence (personal and interpersonal skills); Goal setting and Problem Solving; Living a Healthy Lifestyle (including health related fitness); Introduction to the Local Community/Community Networking; Driving Test Theory; Personal Budgeting and Money Management; Self Advocacy; Relationships and Sexuality; Introduction to General Skills to Independent Living; Career Planning; Communication; Literacy and Numeracy; Preparing for Workjob Seeking; Work experience; Health and Safety; Team Work Skills; IT User Fundamentals; Introduction to Carpentry and Joinery. These benefits are demonstrated through portfolios of evidence and accreditation achieved by each participant. This purpose does not lead to harm The Relief of Those in Need To relieve unemployment and develop the capacity and skills of individuals with learning and intellectual disabilities primarily in the Northwest of Ireland but also in other parts of the world by associating the statutory authorities, businesses, schools, community and voluntary organizations. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include provision of support and guidance to the beneficiaries in the transitions towards employment. This also includes the creation of training and employment opportunities for the beneficiaries in the area of benefit. These benefits are demonstrated through the number of participants currently work sampling in their community. Based on individual need, opportunities will be provided to experience different work placements so that an informed decision can be made on the sort of work best suited to the individual. From initial assessment to career development each participant will have adequate tailored support during the whole process. New Horizons Partnership have set up and arranged many successful work placements with local community employers such as Asda; Homebase; Gallagher Solicitors; Pearse Motors; Strabane Leisure Centre; LYIT; Lagoon Restaurant; NWRC; Poundland; Heatons These benefits are demonstrated through participant’s progress report sheets; work placement agreements; annual reviews as well as regular independent evaluations of our services. This purpose does not lead to harm A private benefit to trustees may arise from our programme of training in good governance, communication, finance. Through this training trustees gain skills and experience which are transferable to other settings. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries.

What your organisation does

New Horizons Partnership Ltd provides a comprehensive range of supports and services to individuals with learning and intellectual disabilities through a network of community based projects in Counties Donegal, Derry, and Tyrone. The organisation is committed to helping and equipping individuals with learning disabilities with the appropriate

skills and knowledge to enrich and improve the quality of their lives, by providing accredited training courses, meaningful hands on work experience and employment to ensure progression and fulfilment of potential. Our programmes aim to develop the personal, social and work skills of our trainees, namely individuals with learning and intellectual disabilities, and provide supports and opportunities for those interested in work experience, work sampling and community based activities. The organisations headquarters is based in Orchard Road, Strabane and also operates a horticultural social enterprise – Strabane Garden Centre which provides vocational training opportunities, Clients are referred to our services and their needs are assessed and a suitable training programme and employment path mapped out with them through a person centred planning approach. Appropriate multi media based learning resources are designed and developed in house, which are also accredited through the Open College Network, to help teach vocational and social skills to these learning disabled clients. Staff at New Horizons Partnership provides a supportive environment that enables each person with a learning disability to achieve a sense of fulfilment and become a valued and respected member of their community.

Charitable purposes

The Charity’s objects are specifically restricted to the following: to advance education, relieve unemployment and develop the capacity and skills of individuals with learning and intellectual disabilities (hereinafter called “the beneficiaries”) primarily in the North West of Ireland and its environs, but not exclusively, and in any other part of the world (hereinafter called the “area of benefit”) by associating the statutory authorities, businesses, schools, community and voluntary organisations and the inhabitants in a common effort and in particular: (a) to provide, or assist in the provision of, programmes of education, including accredited and vocational training designed to assist the beneficiaries to lead to employment and to enhance their personal development; (b) to provide support and guidance to the beneficiaries in the transition towards employment; (c) to create training and employment opportunities for the beneficiaries in the area of benefit; (d) to develop model methodologies, and to conduct research in an effort to promote good practice in the design and delivery of such educational, vocational and life skill programmes;
