The purpose of Friends of the Cancer Centre are as follows: 1 The relief of sickness and the preservation and enhancement of health through the promotion of and provision of funding for research into the treatment and care of cancer patients. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include improved health outcomes and better patient care
for those diagnosed with cancer in Northern Ireland. The benefits are demonstrated through feedback from families of patients and regular evaluation of our services. The purpose does not lead to harm. The beneficiaries of this purpose are people living in Northern Ireland who have been diagnosed with cancer. The beneficiaries also include the family members and carers of those who have been diagnosed with cancer. A private benefit flowing from this purpose is that gained by a Trustee who has a family member who has been diagnosed with cancer. The trustee or their family member will receive the same general benefit as all other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries. 2 The care and comfort and the well-being of cancer patients through the provision of complementary therapies, supporting residential facilities and advice. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include improved health outcomes through the reduction of physical pain as a result of the use of complementary therapies. Stress and anxiety levels are also reduced through supporting the provision of residential facilities so that cancer patients and their families can stay close to the Cancer Centre instead of travelling long distances. The provision of help and advice to cancer patients and their families also help to reduce stress and anxiety. The benefits are demonstrated through feedback from families of patients and regular evaluation of our services. The purpose does not lead to harm. The beneficiaries of this purpose are people living in Northern Ireland who have been diagnosed with cancer. The beneficiaries also include family members and carers of those who have been diagnosed with cancer. A private benefit flowing from this purpose is that gained by a Trustee who has a family member who has been diagnosed with cancer. The trustee of their family members will apply for the benefit in the same way as all other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries.
