Public benefits
The Public Benefit statements for Good Morning Down are: The direct benefits which flow from our purpose includes access to facilities and activities to improve education, health and wellbeing and improve the quality of life of older and vulnerable adults. The main activity is making regular arranged telephone calls to check on their wellbeing and
signposting the individual to other agencies and services if required. GMD also coordinates meetings and events giving our volunteer telephone carers and our beneficiaries the opportunity to get together to enjoy social interaction and to take part in activities of a social, educational and recreational nature. The participants learn new skills and share their own knowledge and skills with each other reducing feelings of isolation. These benefits are demonstrated through feedback from participants and beneficiaries both verbally and by questionnaire, feedback from our volunteer telephone carers, and by measuring the level of uptake of services. The purposes of our charity will not lead to any harm. The charity’s beneficiaries are older and vulnerable adults living in the Down District area. None of our beneficiaries sit on the board of trustees and therefore no private benefit to trustees will arise.

The main activity is making regular arranged telephone calls to check on the wellbeing of GMD members who are older and vulnerable adults and signposting those individuals to relevant agencies and services if required. If the member does not answer the call then a nominated contact is alerted to make them aware of the unanswered call. GMD also
coordinates meetings and events giving our volunteer telephone carers and our beneficiaries the opportunity to get together to enjoy social interaction and to take part in activities of a social, educational and recreational nature. The participants learn new skills and share their own knowledge and skills with each other reducing feelings of isolation & fear of crime and creates a sense of belonging within their local community. We provide in house training for all our volunteer telephone carers which enhances their own self confidence and personal development.
