Public benefits
The direct public benefits that flow from these purposes are that the beneficiaries are much more physically fit and healthy through the training provided by the coaches. The beneficiaries are more disciplined (which is reiterated by coaches at all times) and committed as a result of the dedication required for boxing. Many of the beneficiaries
have found an interest in boxing which they didn’t have with other sports or interests available to them. Reduced isolation as Gaelic Games is very popular in the area and young people who do not play can become isolated from friends, etc. Boxing has given many of these young people an avenue explore hidden talents. Young people from across South Derry are engaging on a weekly basis from both sides of the Community which is building stronger ties in the area. The direct public benefits that flow from these purposes are that we have provided training to the coaches in order that they be able to utilise such knowledge to the benefit of the beneficiaries. Information such child protection, first aid, etc is necessary for our trustees and coaches. Such has been provided in conjunction with the local Council. The beneficiaries are more informed of the attributes and requirements for physical fitness such as diet, aerobic and anaerobic exercise. A greater sense of Community Spirit has been fostered as the whole community come out to support the local boxers. The direct public benefits are that we are based in a very accessible venue for our beneficiaries. The Club is utilising what was a derelict Hall which has wider benefits for the whole community as the building is now a hive of activity and maintained to a high standard. The building was previously dilapidated. All of the fire and health and safety requirements for the building are met by the trustees to ensure that we safeguard the wellbeing of its users. Private benefits arise from some of our purposes such as improving the physical fitness of trustees/coaches through the delivery of the regular training in the Club as this involves significant physical activity on their part. Some trustees have taken part in various training courses which have been organised to assist in the delivery of the activities of the club and protection of beneficiaries, such as Child Protection Training, First Aid, etc. Such private benefits have been incidental and necessary to ensure the benefits were passed on to beneficiaries.
