What is the Benefit? The Public Benefits of Carrickfergus & District Citizens Advice Bureau are: To ensure the local community in Carrickfergus & District are informed of the Free, Confidential, and Independent and Impartial service of CAB. To ensure the Public are better informed of their rights and responsibilities. To ensure the Public are

better informed of budgeting and money management. To ensure the Public are aware of the facility for Money Management and support from Bureau. To ensure the Public are aware of the availability of advocacy on their behalf with creditors, Public agencies, Social Security agency and any other organisation or businesses. To ensure the Public are aware of the availability of lobbying on their behalf with elected representatives and services. Can you demonstrate this? These benefits are demonstrated by use of our Case recording and statistics. We carry out a survey of clients annually in February. CAB is audited 3 yearly by an independent body to assess quality of Advice and Governance. Social Policy (lobbying) forms sent to Advocacy officer in Regional office. Is any harm or possibility of harm outweighed by the Benefit? The purposes of our Charity may lead to clients being over-dependent on our service; however this is unusual as we encourage clients to make informed decisions with the information given. Who is the Benefit for? The Charity’s beneficiaries are the general population of Carrickfergus & District Council and surrounding areas. Is there any private Benefit? The private benefit from this purpose is training for staff and volunteers in Bureau and the Management committee who gain skills and experience which are transferrable to other areas. These benefits are incidental and necessary as they need to complete the training to provide the service.
