Public benefits
The objective of the company is the advancement of education of the public in Northern Ireland in relation to road safety so as to reduce casualties and prevent road traffic collisions and for any other charitable purpose or activity permitted by law. The direct public benefits which flow from this purpose are in relation to increased knowledge and
awareness of road safety risks and improvements in road user behaviour/skills contributing to a reduction in casualties and prevention of road traffic collisions. These benefits are evidenced through statistical data, feedback/evaluation/of initiatives/events which are carried out in partnership with a number of statutory bodies and other organisations such as PSNI, NIFRS, IAM, local councils, AA and RAC. There is no harm arising from the purpose that has been set out above. No individual within the organisation nor any other organisation gains a private benefit from the purpose of the company and its outworkings.

Examples of initiatives/events etc. (i.e. what we do) which lead to public benefit are: Children: Primary School Road Safety Quizzes; Public Speaking Competitions for P6/P7 pupils; Cycle Proficiency Training for school children. Youth: Young Driver Events in Schools and in the Community both locally and cross-border involving skills development
through manoeuvrability testing, car simulator practice, reaction testing, enactment of an accident scene involving PSNI and NIFRS, provision of road safety information leaflets and various exhibition stands relevant to the young driver; encourage and facilitate young people to participate in local road safety committees. Older People: Talks to Senior Citizens Groups, exhibitions and provision of information leaflets. General public: cycling safety events; motorcycle safety events; safe driving events; surveys on seatbelt usage, mobile phone usage whilst driving and publication of results and highlighting of hazards etc. in the press; Work-related road safety Seminars; campaigning and lobbying on road safety issues. Representatives of Road Safe NI participate in various groups/fora relating to road safety influencing legislative provision, developments and change for the benefit of the public at large.
