Public benefits

To encourage the development and foster the practice of South Asian performing arts including dance, music, and theater and provide training and opportunities for artists to develop their skill, including providing opportunities for participating in International events and various local Charity events. Section of the people:

South Asian Ethnic minorities. People of India, Bangladesh, Nepal How they benefit: Platform for them to keep their culture alive in a foreign land through learning and reviving music, dance and drama from their hometown Locals: Platform to encounter and opportunity to learn dances, songs and other skills of South Asia in their own local environment (b) To present, promote, organise, manage and produce performances and exhibitions of cultural and educational value which showcase South Asian arts and culture; Locals with an interest in the South Asian culture, example: Staff nurses of Ulster Hospital Kidney Department was benefited from Mudra Academy to organize the fund raising event. They learn the Indian Dances at Mudra to organize the show for their patients. It gives them an appreciation of the South Asian culture and a greater understanding of their arts. (c) To teach South Asian languages such as Hindi and Bangla and advance the understanding of such languages through performances and cultural programme; Students who want to learn South Asian languages: We provide cheap classes for any age to learn a new language such as Bengali and Hindi. The children of Indian and Bangladesh origin are directly benefited of the language classes, it keeps their language and culture alive in a foreign land through learning and reviving language and literature. For locals: a good number of local Irish members learn and practice Bengali and Hindi language for their tourism purpose, for charity purpose (it helps when they travel to Nepal, Bangladesh and India along with various Charity organizations and in the occasion of International marriages) (d) To provide support and financial aid to such other charitable institutions and/or charitable purposes as the trustees may from time to time determine in accordance with the law of charity. The annual Fund raising cultural event is dedicated to Northern Ireland’s local charity like ACTION CANCER is a demonstration of the benefits of Mudra Academy. Action Cancer is our direct and prime beneficiary. Our motto of learning and performing dances is to utilize our skills to help the wider community therefore we actively perform in various charity events like Action Cancer, Cancer Research UK, British Red Cross which adds variety and d diversity to the events not only benefiting the event organizer but also the local audience who are given a glimpse of a different culture that helps build mutual tolerance between the local community and South Asian minority – a step forward in building a multicultural society. We do not have any funding support, we work with dream, passion and aspiration. There is NO private benefit or harm. We do have many local press coverage documents and Action Cancer publish our work in their annual report and monthly magazine.

The South Asian and Bengali New Year was celebrated in: i) Morton Community Hall in April 2010, attended by more than 100 people. ii) Olympia Community Center in April 2011, attended by 200 people. iii) St. Brides Hall in April 2012, attended by 350 people. iv) Agape Centre in April 2013, attended by 400 people. v) St. Brides Hall in April

2014, attended by 400 people. 2. Durga Puja and Dusshera Festival was celebrated in: i) Morton Community Hall in October 2010, attended by 400 people over 3 days. ii) Olympia Community Center in October 2011, attended by 500 people over 4 days. iii) Olympia Community Center in October 2012, attended by 500 people over 4 days. iv) Olympia Community Center in October 2013, attended by 700 people over 4 days. vi) Markets Community centre in 2016, 2017,2018 attended by 400+ people. vii) Indian Community Centre in 2019, 2022 by 500+ people viii)Virtual celebration in 2020 during Covid. viv)Indian community centre in 2020 restriceted access 3. Festival of Lights (Diwali) celebration in Student Union Queens University in November 2010, 2011, 2012. In each year it was attended by more than 300 people. In November 2013, 100 people attended in Windsor Tennis Club. 4. Fund raising charities were organised for Action Cancer in 2013, 2014,2015,2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2023

Charitable purposes

The Trust is established to advance the education of the public in the arts, languages and culture of South Asia, and to promote public appreciation of the performing arts and in particular; (a) to encourage the development and foster the practice of South Asian performing arts including dance, music, theater and provide training and opportunities for artists to develop skill, including providing opportunities for participating in international events ; (b) to present, promote, organise, manage and produce performances and exhibitions of cultural and educational value which showcase South Asian arts and culture; (c) to teach South Asian Languages such as Hindi and Bangla and advance the understanding of such languages through performances and cultural programmes; d) to provide support and financial aid to such other charitable institutions and/or charitable purposes as the trustees may from time to time determine in accordance with the law of charity.
