Public benefits
EMBRACE is established for the support and relief of asylum seekers, refugees, migrant workers and other people of black and minority ethnic backgrounds in Northern Ireland, to promote racial harmony for the benefit of the public and to advance the education of the public, statutory and voluntary organisations and churches about the issues relating
to asylum seekers, refugees, migrant workers and other people of black and minority ethnic backgrounds to assist their inclusion into the wider community in Northern Ireland. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include a reduction in racism and hate crime, increased community cohesion and integration, and more involvement by churches in addressing the needs of our target group. Church, voluntary and community groups and students benefit directly from the work of EMBRACE and we aim, in particular, to equip churches and individuals working with newcomers and minority ethnic communities, so that through our training and resources they are better skilled and informed to respond to the needs of migrants, people seeking asylum and minority ethnic communities. These benefits will be evidenced through research, the dissemination and use of our resources/publications, the number of people participating in EMBRACE workshops, ongoing feedback and external evaluation. The beneficiaries of EMBRACE are local church and community groups, voluntary and statutory organisations working with people seeking asylum, migrants and minority ethnic communities, people themselves who have migrated to Northern Ireland and any individuals interested in this area. No harm will result from any of our activities as we offer information, support, practical assistance and advocacy. There is no private benefit flowing from this purpose.
