Public benefits
The benefits flowing from purpose (i) are the provision of bible study, discipleship training and training in practical skills. The benefits are evidenced through the development of character and transferable skills, enabling individuals to become responsible, mature, independent members of society, further benefitting the wider general public. The
purpose is beneficial and not harmful. The beneficiaries are volunteers who run and maintain the charity facilities and members of the public. A private benefit to trustees may arise from our ongoing training in good governance. Through this training, trustees gain skills and experience which can be transferrable to other settings. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries. The direct benefits flowing from purpose (iv) are the provision of financial gifts to other charities and gifts of used furniture and household goods to families in need. The benefits are evidenced through informal feedback from families and though written and photographic feedback from the relief charity who purchase basic necessities such as food, clothing, and educational supplies, improving the condition of life of those receiving aid. There is no harm flowing from this purpose. The beneficiaries are members of the public in the wider world and throughout Northern Ireland who, due to an emergency or financial hardship, find themselves in necessitous circumstances. There is no private benefit flowing from this purpose to any individual or organisation. The direct benefits flowing from purpose (iii) are the provision of facilities enabling voluntary and community organisations to improve the effectiveness, quality, and efficiency of their outreach programmes and events. The benefit is evidenced through the extension of the beneficiary charity’s activities such as a youth club, support group, fund raising activities, community events, and conferences. The beneficiaries are voluntary and community groups and their beneficiaries throughout Northern Ireland and Ireland. The purposes are beneficial and not harmful. The charity will continue to provide assistance and resources as long as the activities supported accord with the aims of the charity. There is no private benefit flowing from this purpose to any individual or organisation. The main purpose of the charity is to advance the Christian faith and values. The direct benefits flowing from purpose (iv) are the provision of informal mutual support with opportunity for bible study and discussion, discipleship training, serving other Christian charities through provision of facilities, and the provision of well-equipped self catering holiday and conference facilities promoting Christian values. The benefit of informal support groups are identifiable through feedback from individuals who experience improved mental health and spiritual well being. All members of the public, in particular Christian charities, will benefit from a low cost residential facility enabling them to fulfil the objectives of their conference and residential work. Reports and feedback from similar Christian residential centres indicate that individuals and groups using their facility benefit emotionally, spiritually, intellectually, and physically from a weekend or midweek residential in a safe, secure amenity located in wide, open space. The charity liaised with Christian youth leaders during building work in order to evaluate and practically meet as many of their requirements as possible. Future surveys will be implemented to evaluate the residential experience of organised groups with a view to improving the range of benefits when financially possible. There is no harm flowing from this purpose. The beneficiaries are the general public throughout Northern Ireland and Ireland, particularly Christian charities working with children, young people and families. There is no private benefit flowing from this purpose.
