Purpose 1 – the promotion of sport within the Province of Ulster within Ireland by providing financial awards to individuals and groups to assist with competition as amateur(s). The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include individuals and groups benefitting by taking part in competitions which would not normally be available to them
due to lack of funding. Beneficiaries are also enabled to learn from the experience of competing at the highest level and disseminate this learning to their peers (within or without sport). Purpose 2 – the promotion of sport within the Province of Ulster by providing support to help the development of skills and capabilities of sportsmen and women to enable participation in sport and maximise potential. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include increased self awareness and self confidence of individuals in order that they may be an effective member of a team or as a representative of their sport. The health of beneficiaries is also promoted through exercise by enabling them to take part in extensive training programmes designed to develop their physical attributes and develop their sporting skills. Purpose 3 – the promotion of amateur sport within the Province of Ulster by helping sportsmen and women through sport so as to develop their capabilities to enable them to participate in society as independent and responsible individuals. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include the implementation of sporting programmes which will promote religious and cultural integration, as well as the integration into wider society of those with a disability through participation in sport. Furthermore, deprived communities are assisted and individuals within such deprived communities, to develop social skills, social leadership and community development. Benefit also arises through the provision of specialist advice on diet, media, sports psychology and the use of social media. Purpose 4 – the promotion of amateur sport within the Province of Ulster by anything else considered necessary or expedient to the promotion of sport as deemed necessary by the directors. The direct benefits flowing from this purpose include individuals and groups living in Northern Ireland benefitting from improved health, social well-being, religious integration, education and better mental health by receiving financial assistance and sporting programmes provided by The Mary Peters Trust to participate in sport as an amateur. These benefits will be evidenced by individuals and groups completing evaluation reports which will be provided to The Mary Peters Trust. These reports will enable the Trust to assess the number of competitions attended and how their learning and experience was disseminated to others. Benefit is also measured by liaison with various other charitable organisations and departmental bodies to assess the impact of assistance and sporting programmes provided by The Mary Peters Trust. The purposes of our charity result in no harm. The benefit is for individuals and groups living in Northern Ireland who are participating in amateur sport. There are no private benefits flowing from these purposes. Individuals or organisations other than intended beneficiaries will not benefit from our charitable purposes.
