Public benefits
The relief of those in need by reason of age; direct benefits flowing from the purpose include increased levels of social integration, mental stimulation, physical stimulation as well as a greater overall well-being for the beneficiaries. Users will also benefit from improved knowledge of health issues which affect their age bracket. These benefits
are demonstrable through regular feedback from the attendees and users of the services provided and through reports carried out by public bodies or larger organisations. There are no harms resulting from the purpose neither is there any private benefit to any individuals. The beneficiaries are older people.
... [more] [less]What your organisation does
Practically, the organisation acts as a social hub for older people in the local area who can meet once a week, engage in activities such as exercise designed for their age group, arts and crafts, bowls etc. The attendees will usually receive a lunch together. The organisation also invites along guest speakers and health representatives who advise
on issues affecting older people like dementia, immobility and other issues. There are also regular day trips and visits for the users of the service. An annual Christmas dinner is held. Users are asked for a fee of £5 for the day which is pooled to provide all of the above, along with increasingly sparse funding from other bodies.
