Public benefits
The objects of the Charity are to relieve poverty, advance education, promote the welfare of the aged, to preserve and protect health by the provision of counselling, to provide facilities in the interest of social welfare by the provision of playgroups, children’s clubs and summer schemes. The direct benefits that flow from these purposes
include removing people from poverty, improved educational outcomes, improved health and the quality of life of older people, improved mental health and family relationships and improved physical and mental health outcomes. These benefits are evidenced through feedback from participants and from supported affiliated charities. The purposes of our Charity may lead to the following harm: mental distress when undertaking some counselling sessions. We can show that this harm is outweighed by the benefits through feedback that the outcomes are ultimately far more beneficial than any minor distress caused. The charity’s beneficiaries are the general public, in particular the young, the old, youth, men, women, those with health problems including mental health problems and education needs. Trustees gain experience of running a charity; these skills can be transferable to other organisations. Trustees and/or members of their families may be employed by the charity or affiliated charities. These benefits are incidental to the purposes. In the case of employment, non-employed Trustees form a majority of the board and make decisions re remuneration without any employed Trustees being present.
