Public benefits
The direct benefits which flow from our purpose include improved outcomes for the children who attend through the development of the children’s individual capabilities, competences, life skills, independence, social skills, play skills, communication and understanding. The families of the children will indirectly benefit from the special needs
education and care provided to their children. There is a wider benefit to the community as skills learned, by the children, can be transferred to other environments in the community which promotes inclusion in society. These benefits are evidenced through the children’s records via observations, photographs, daily assessments, planning and evaluations. We are registered with the Western Health and Social Care Trust and are inspected annually our inspection report can be seen by request or by contacting the Early Years Team, Clooney Hall Centre, Clooney Terrace, Londonderry. This is also demonstrated through feedback from other professionals involved with the children. Staff meet with the parents throughout the year for 3 monthly reviews and the benefits are evidenced through this feedback and reports. The Parent’s survey and comments are included in our Annual Report each year. For information required by the funders the benefits are evidenced through the statistics and case studies. Little Orchids was chosen to be part of Big Lottery Culture for All film 2014. The video of a Parent's interview is available via you tube under "Little Orchids Big Lottery Fund". The benefits are also evidenced through our waiting list from referrals by Professionals There will be no harm flowing from our purposes. The Charity’s intended beneficiaries are children 2-4 years with special needs and their parents and carers.

We provide therapeutic intervention and support for children 2-4 years with special needs and those who may require additional support. We cater for children who have a wide variety of specific needs. All staff are highly experienced and committed to ongoing training to provide the best outcomes for children and their families. We are located at
Gransha Park, L’Derry and have no specific catchment area. Referrals are usually made by professionals involved with the child. Parents can also self refer. We run 2 sessions per day and have a high adult child ratio. Observations are used to assess each child’s individual needs, strengths, interests and abilities and to plan experiences that will encourage further learning. Throughout the daily routine we promote each child's social skills, communication skills, self help skills, play skills and independence. We liaise closely with Health and Education Professionals involved with each child to share information to achieve common goals for the benefit of the child.
