Public benefits

The direct benefits which flow from these purposes include improved health and well-being and reduced levels of isolation. These benefits are evidenced through bi-annual evaluations carried out with service users and general day to day feedback from beneficiaries, their families and/or carers. These purposes do not lead to harm. The beneficiaries

of these purposes are adults with disabilities, their families and/or carers living in Northern Ireland. Currently, Jigsaw NI only have services in three council areas - Belfast, North Down and Ards. A private benefit flowing from the purposes is that people will be employed and get paid and staff and volunteers will receive relevant training, which will allow them to gain skills and experiences which are transferable to other settings. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure that benefit is provided to our beneficiaries.

What your organisation does

Jigsaw NI encourages adults with disabilities to participate in activities and learn new skills in a fun and supportive environment. We facilitate and run weekly term-time activities in local community venues, which reduces levels of isolation, as users are getting out of their homes and into the community. Activities include art (various forms),

swimming, chair-based activity, exercise in water, boccia and keep-fit. Qualified instructors lead the activities and are supported by volunteers. Jigsaw NI organise and heavily subsidise transport where needed, as this is one of the main barriers to participation for the beneficiaries.
