Public benefits
The benefit that flows from the purpose is the promotion of enjoyment, better understanding and general advancement of the arts and sciences, in particular the art and science of dance, movement and theatre, for the benefit of the general public in Northern Ireland, and further abroad through touring, through exposure to and participation in, as
audience member or physical participant, the art and science of dance, movement and theatre. These benefits are evidenced through regular internal and external qualitative assessment; regular collation of quantitative data on charitable activities, audiences, and participation; photo and video documentation; regular reporting of charitable activities and financial performance in annual reports, audited annual accounts, and reports to grant funders. The possibility of harm, for example by physical injury incurred by participation in dance, movement and theatre, is outweighed by the benefit and significantly reduced by the policies and procedures in place to address such risks, for example Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy, Health and Safety Policy, Code of Conduct for Staff and Volunteers. The charity's beneficiaries are the general public in Northern Ireland, and occasionally outside Northern Ireland (e.g. touring dance theatre production). Specific projects may address the needs of specific sections of society (e.g. Access to Dance Education project targeting social need in Derry City Council wards).
