Our Trustees believe that our purposes satisfy the elements of the public benefit requirement. Purpose One - The Relief of Poverty The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include: • Individuals gaining the necessary skills, knowledge and resources that they need to get themselves out of poverty, • Individuals becoming more empowered to

make positive changes, • Individuals gaining the necessary skills for employment and to create a brighter future for themselves. These benefits are evidenced through qualifications gained, employment secured, feedback from our beneficiaries and regular independent evaluations. This purpose does not give rise to any harm. The beneficiaries of this purpose are socially excluded women and their families living in the Strathfoyle & Maydown area of Derry. Purpose Two - The Advancement of Education The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include: • Individuals' educational attainments are increased. • Individuals' life skills abilities are increased. These benefits are evidenced through qualifications gained, employment secured, feedback from our beneficiaries and regular independent evaluations. This purpose does not give rise to any harm. The beneficiaries of this purpose are socially excluded women and their families living in the Strathfoyle & Maydown area of Derry. Purpose Three - The Protection of Health The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include: • Individuals leading a more Healthy lifestyle • Individuals making healthier lifestyle choices This purpose does not give rise to any harm. The beneficiaries of this purpose are socially excluded women and their families living in the Strathfoyle & Maydown area of Derry. These benefits are evidenced through feedback from our beneficiaries and regular independent evaluations. A private benefit flowing from this benefit is that trustees can also benefit from the programs on offer.

What your organisation does

We provide a wide and varied program of activities and events to enable women to access opportunities for learning and development in a flexible and supportive environment, while doing this we provide childcare focused on the needs of the child, taking account of the needs of women from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. We work in

partnership with women’s organisations and other agencies in the North West, at a regional level and beyond, to influence positive change in the field of women’s equality, learning and development. On a yearly basis we deliver approx 30 capacity building education & training programmes to 300 women, while doing this we provided 90 childcare places each week, to enable women/carers to attend. We also: • Delivered a series on training programs implemented for staff, volunteers & management committee. • Produced an annual operational plan. • Delivered an essential skills program targeting excluded women. • Provided careers advice and guidance service on a weekly basis. • Facilitate a Positive Ageing Programme to women aged 55+, offering them a Social Interaction program and also Holistic Therapies. • Provided a Drop-in Respite program for Families with additional needs • Provided a weekly Jo Jingles Music & Movement program for young children & their Parents/carers. • Worked strategically with other women’s centres and groups to develop a Regional infrastructure. • Contributed to consultations, external bodies and agencies on social economic and community development issues. • Worked with other agencies to foster social and economic development

Charitable purposes

The objects of the company shall be to relieve poverty, to advance education and the preservation of health specifically, but not exclusively, among women residing in the Strathfoyle and rural Derry areas and their environs (hereinafter called ‘the area of benefit’), by and in particular: a) associating the statutory authorities, community and voluntary organisations and the inhabitants in a common effort to advance education, and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure-time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants; b) the advancement of education, training and retraining, particularly among unemployed people, and providing unemployed people with work experience; c) the maintenance, improvement or provision of public amenities; d) the provision of assistance in the provision of recreational facilities for the public at large and/or those who, by reasons of their youth, age, infirmity or disablement, poverty or social and economic circumstances, have need of such facilities; e) the provision of public health facilities and childcare.
