Upgrade to online services

The Charity Commission for Northern Ireland's upgraded online services are expected to go live on Thursday, 12 November 2026.

The upgrade will provide a more modern and user-friendly experience for charities and organisations applying for registration.

Please use the information boxes below for more detail on how the upgrade will be rolled out.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we make these improvements.

  • To support the move to the new system, there will be a short period during which online services are unavailable while services are transferred.

The planned service interruption is expected to take place from Sunday 8 November until Wednesday 11 November 2026 inclusive.

    During this time:

    • there will be no access to My Charity login (the online services portal).
    • registration applications will be paused.
    • no Annual Monitoring Returns can be submitted.
    • there will be no impact on the rest of the Commission's website.
  • When the upgraded My Charity login goes live, each charity will need to create a new password on the upgraded system when they log on for the first time using the ‘Forgot password’ link. A password reset email will be sent to the email address currently held for Commission use.

Instructions explaining how to set your password on the upgraded system can also be found on page 5 of the Welcome pack | CCNI

To help keep your account secure, please remember:

    • always access Commission services through the official website: charitycommissionni.org.uk.
    • check that the website address begins with https:// and uses the charitycommissionni.org.uk domain.
    • the Commission will never ask you to provide your password by email or over the telephone.

  • Once the new system goes live, users will notice minor changes to the appearance of forms accessed through the My Charity login portal, and the online charity registration application.

While the look and layout of the forms have been updated, the information required has not changed. The questions and supporting guidance remain the same, meaning charities and organisations will continue to provide the same key information when:

    • completing an Annual Monitoring Return (AMR) or
    • applying for charitable registration.

Sample screenshots of the updated forms can be found below.

  • To support the transition to the new system, the Commission had temporarily paused invitations for organisations to apply for registration.

Invitations will resume shortly after implementation of the upgraded system. We ask for your patience for just a little longer while the new registration service is brought online, and processes recommence. The Commission will provide further updates as they become available.
