Public benefits

The charity provides direct benefits by improving mental health and wellbeing, relieving distress and supporting recovery. It offers emotional, practical and therapeutic support, including counselling and peer support, and helps individuals access appropriate services. The charity also improves public understanding of mental health, reduces stigma

and promotes early intervention through awareness and education. Its training and programmes help people build resilience, recognise mental health needs and make informed decisions. In addition, the charity supports vulnerable individuals to improve their quality of life and, where necessary, provides practical assistance to relieve hardship. Its work with other organisations contributes to more effective and accessible mental health services. The benefits can be demonstrated through outcomes such as improved wellbeing, reduced distress and increased resilience among beneficiaries. This may include feedback from service users, uptake of services, and evidence of individuals accessing further support where needed. The impact of awareness and educational activities can be demonstrated through participation levels, increased knowledge and improved attitudes towards mental health. The charity may also demonstrate its contribution through partnerships, delivery of programmes, and sharing of information or research that supports improved understanding and services. The charity does not anticipate any significant harm arising from its purposes. All activities are designed to promote wellbeing, provide support and improve understanding of mental health. Appropriate safeguards, policies and procedures are in place to ensure services are delivered safely, responsibly and in the best interests of beneficiaries. The beneficiaries are individuals experiencing mental health difficulties and their families or carers. The wider public also benefits from increased awareness, reduced stigma and improved understanding of mental health. In particular, support may be directed towards individuals who are vulnerable due to age, disability, ill health or other disadvantage. Any private benefit arising from the charity’s activities is incidental and necessary to the delivery of its charitable purposes. For example, individuals may benefit directly from support services, and staff or professionals may receive payment for delivering services. However, such benefits are a necessary part of achieving the charity’s aims and are not the primary purpose of the organisation. All activities are carried out for the public benefit

What your organisation does

We support people affected by mental health difficulties by providing practical, emotional and therapeutic support. This includes counselling, peer support and helping individuals and families access appropriate specialist services. We raise awareness and improve understanding of mental health by sharing information, engaging with communities and

challenging stigma, so that more people feel able to seek help. We deliver training, workshops and educational programmes that help people recognise and respond to mental health needs, build resilience and make informed choices about their wellbeing. We contribute to improving mental health knowledge by supporting and sharing research into the causes, prevention and treatment of mental health conditions. We work alongside charities, public services and other organisations to improve the quality and effectiveness of mental health support, and we advocate for positive changes that benefit the public. We provide additional support to people who may be particularly vulnerable due to age, disability, ill health or other disadvantage. This includes helping individuals develop coping skills, become more independent and improve their quality of life. In some cases, we also provide practical assistance such as food or essential items.
