Public benefits
Rise’s purposes provide a clear public benefit by improving women’s mental health and emotional wellbeing, reducing social isolation, and increasing access to preventative mental health support. The direct benefits flowing from the organisation’s purposes include improved mental wellbeing, increased confidence and resilience, reduced loneliness,
and greater awareness and understanding of mental health issues among participants. Rise delivers accessible, community-based group sessions facilitated by qualified professionals and experienced practitioners, alongside peer support and creative wellbeing activities. These services help women develop coping strategies, manage stress, and build supportive social connections in a safe and inclusive environment. The organisation’s activities also contribute to the wider public benefit by reducing stigma around mental health, encouraging early intervention, and potentially reducing demand on statutory health and social care services. Rise’s services are open to women who may be experiencing mental health challenges or social isolation, regardless of background or circumstances, ensuring the benefits are available to a sufficient section of the public. The benefits identified above can be demonstrated through a combination of monitoring, feedback, and evaluation methods. Rise records attendance and participation levels at all sessions to evidence engagement and accessibility. Participant feedback is gathered through informal discussions, feedback forms, and wellbeing questionnaires to assess changes in confidence, emotional wellbeing, and feelings of social connection. Qualitative evidence, such as participant testimonials and case studies (shared with consent), is used to demonstrate reduced isolation, increased coping skills, and improved mental wellbeing. The organisation also monitors repeat attendance and ongoing engagement as indicators of positive impact. Where sessions are delivered by external facilitators, feedback and outcome information are shared to support evaluation. Rise has identified no inherent harm arising from its purposes. The organisation’s activities are designed to support and promote mental health and wellbeing in a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment. Potential risks associated with group-based mental health support, such as emotional distress or safeguarding concerns, are minimised through appropriate policies and procedures. Sessions are facilitated by qualified professionals or experienced practitioners, clear boundaries are maintained, and participants are signposted to additional or statutory support where required. Safeguarding, confidentiality, and health and safety measures are in place to ensure activities are delivered responsibly and without detriment to participants. The charity’s beneficiaries are adult women who may be experiencing mental health challenges, emotional distress, or social isolation, or who wish to improve their mental health and overall wellbeing. Beneficiaries include women from a wide range of backgrounds and circumstances, including those experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, loneliness, or reduced confidence. The charity’s services are open to women without the requirement for a formal mental health diagnosis and are accessible to a sufficient section of the public, ensuring that the benefits are not unduly restricted. Any private benefit arising from the charity’s purposes is incidental and necessary to the achievement of those purposes. The charity may pay reasonable fees to external facilitators and service providers, such as mental health professionals and wellbeing practitioners, to enable the effective delivery of its activities. No trustee or member receives any personal benefit from the charity. Any private benefit is proportionate, properly managed, and arises solely as a consequence of carrying out the charity’s purposes, ensuring that the overall benefit is to the public.
