Public benefits

The direct benefit of is the relief of and alleviation of poverty and loneliness through person to person support. Verbal feedback from beneficiaries generally at the time support is provided. No harm arising. All those in poverty who are in need of assistance. There is no private benefit. If there is any private benefit it is incidental and

necessary.

What your organisation does

Through person-to-person contact, the Charity is committed to respecting the dignity of those it assists and in fostering self-respect and endeavour to establish relationships based on trust and friendship at all times. Short term material support is provided. In addition, the Charity aims to assist beneficiaries to achieve self-sufficiency in

the longer term and the sense of self-worth this provides. When problems are beyond the Charity's competence, beneficiaries are signposted to specialist help. The Charity is committed to identifying the root causes of poverty and social exclusion in Northern Ireland, in solidarity with poor and disadvantaged people, to advocate for the changes required to create a more just and caring society. The Charity's main focus is visiting people in their homes who need help and assistance. Practical or financial assistance towards day-to-day essentials may be provided, together with information about other relevant services. The Charity provides a wide range of services for vulnerable people through home visitations. In addition, its portfolio of charity shops provides quality donated goods for those in need.

Charitable purposes

The Charity’s Object is the prevention and relief of poverty in accordance with the Rule. Nothing in the Articles shall authorise an application of the property of the Charity for purposes which are not charitable in accordance with s.2 of the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008.
