Public benefits

The direct benefits resulting from our organisation’s purposes are: Improved Health and Wellbeing of Children Regular access to outdoor, nature-based play supports physical development, improves overall health, and contributes to emotional wellbeing. Time spent in natural settings helps reduce stress and supports positive mental health in young

children. Increased Confidence, Independence, and Resilience Child-led exploration and supported risk-taking in natural environments enable children to develop independence, problem-solving abilities, and resilience. These skills prepare them for future learning and life experiences. Enhanced Early Learning and Development Open-ended, curiosity-driven play promotes cognitive development, language growth, social skills, and creativity. These developmental benefits support children in meeting recognised early years learning outcomes and help ensure they are ready for school. Greater Understanding of Nature and Environmental Responsibility Regular engagement with outdoor spaces fosters children’s understanding of the natural world and encourages responsible behaviour towards the environment. This supports long-term community wellbeing and awareness of sustainability. Support for Families and the Wider Community Families benefit from accessible early years provision that promotes positive relationships, community engagement, and shared environmental values. By offering inclusive, high-quality early education, the organisation contributes to stronger, more connected communities. Inclusive Opportunities for All Children Our child-centred approach ensures that children of all backgrounds and abilities can participate fully. This helps reduce barriers to early learning and supports equality of opportunity within the community. The benefits can be demonstrated through children’s developmental progress, improved confidence and social interaction, positive feedback from families, and observations of children’s engagement in nature-based learning. No The primary beneficiaries are children aged 3-4 and their families within the local community. The wider public benefits through increased environmental awareness and strengthened community connection. Staff/volunteers may gain skills, training, experience, or qualifications as a result of delivering our forestry and Curiosity Approach sessions. These benefits are unavoidable and directly linked to ensuring the safe and effective operation of the playgroup. They are not greater than is reasonable. External providers (such as trainers/equipment suppliers) may receive payment for goods or services. These payments are strictly for items or training required to fulfil our charitable aims and are made at a market-rate level. Parents&families may experience increased wellbeing, community connection, and access to support. These benefits occur naturally from engaging with the charity but are secondary to the primary public benefit to children. There is no private benefit beyond what is incidental, proportionate, and necessary to achieving the organisation’s charitable purposes. No individual or organisation receives personal gain that outweighs or undermines the public benefit delivered.
