The education of children and young people aged 14-24 years to help them develop, emotionally, mentally and physically so they can make a positive contribution to their community and the wider world and develop their full potential. The benefit to the participants is that they will have increased confidence, they will learn new life skills, will

gain leadership skills and learn how to work as a team. The wider benefit to the community at large is enhanced social education and responsible citizenship that flows from the purpose. Through feedback provided by DofE Award participants and voluntary leaders, and independent evaluations of training, programmes and events. There is no harm arising from any of the charity's purposes. Children and young people aged 14-24 years taking part in the DofE Award programme. There is no private benefit flowing from the purposes.

What your organisation does

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is a life-changing experience. The charity offers a unique DofE programme, which helps children and young people aged 14-24 years old to develop new talents, develop essential skills for life and have fun with friends. The DofE programme run by the charity encourages volunteering time to help the community, becoming

fitter and healthier, developing new skills, planning, training for, and completing an expedition and, where applicable, working with a team on a residential activity all with the aim of the participants receiving a Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Charitable purposes

The Charity’s Objects are specifically restricted to help young people in the greater Belfast area (and such other areas as the Trustees may from time to time determine) by providing opportunities for them to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Award and thereby to develop their capabilities and character that they may grow to full maturity as individuals and members of society. Nothing in the articles shall authorise an application of the property of the Charity for purposes which are not charitable in accordance with s.2 of the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008.
