Public benefits
The direct benefits which flow from our purpose is the relief of suffering and anguish of unwanted, abandoned or discarded reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates who are in need of care, safe sanctuary and rehabilitation by the provision of a rescue and rehoming organisation, by providing permanent or temporary accommodation for such animals;
improving awareness and education of the general public relating to all aspects of animal welfare, in particular the care of reptiles and other exotics; promoting volunteering from the general public and offering placements to students. Benefits also include relieving the stress of owners who can no longer care for their pets, particularly those with mental or physical health problems; also relieving the stress of the general public when stray or neglected animals are found. These benefits are demonstrated by the reduction in unwanted, neglected, abused and abandoned reptiles and the successful rehoming of animals through the sanctuary from throughout Northern Ireland and Ireland. These benefits are demonstrated through the work carried out to take in, care for and rehome these animals. We provide veterinary care and behaviour rehabilitation, a rehoming service and a permanent sanctuary. None of our purposes give rise to any harm. The beneficiaries of these purposes are the general public throughout Northern Ireland and Ireland. A private benefit flowing from this purpose is the vet and the food/ bedding suppliers being paid for their services but this is incidental and necessary for carrying out the above purposes.
