Public benefits
What are the direct benefits flowing from your organisation's purposes? The charity increases knowledge and skills in civic participation, advocacy, and public decision-making. It enables individuals and community groups to influence policy and engage effectively with democratic institutions. Through research, education, training, and dialogue, it
supports communities to tackle social, cultural, and economic challenges, reduce exclusion, and strengthen cross-community relationships. This contributes directly to improved confidence, greater social cohesion, and reconciliation across Northern Ireland. How can the benefits identified above be demonstrated? Benefits can be demonstrated through: Participant feedback and evaluation from training and workshops. Evidence of increased engagement of communities with policymakers and institutions. Research reports and publications that are publicly available and used by community organisations. Case studies showing improved community capacity, collaboration, and cross-community initiatives. Monitoring changes in confidence, knowledge, and participation levels among beneficiaries. Is there any harm arising from any of the purposes? No. The purposes are designed to advance education, community development, and peacebuilding, all of which are positive and beneficial. Activities such as training, dialogue, and research carry no material risk of harm. Who are the charity's beneficiaries? The primary beneficiaries are women but also communities in Northern Ireland, particularly those experiencing social, political, or economic exclusion. This includes community groups, voluntary organisations, and members of the public seeking to build knowledge, capacity, and confidence to participate in civic life. Wider society also benefits through stronger community relations and improved policy outcomes Is there any private benefit flowing from any of the purposes? Any private benefit is incidental and necessary. For example, individuals may acquire skills (e.g. in advocacy, research, or leadership) that could enhance their employment prospects, or directors/connected persons may be reimbursed for reasonable expenses. These benefits are secondary to, and arise only as a by-product of, achieving the charity’s purposes. The Articles of Association ensure that directors cannot receive remuneration or financial benefit unless strictly in line with charity law
