Public benefits

The direct benefit will be the advancement of amateur sport in the local community of Mourne DEA. These benefits include Improved Physical and Mental Health, Increased Community Engagement and Social Inclusion, Greater Access to Sporting Facilities, Rural Development and Community Cohesion. Volunteering and social responsibility will be encouraged

and capacity will be built within the local community to address its own needs. These benefits will be demonstrated by feedback from participants, players, volunteers and the general public obtained through such methods as public consultations, interviews, group discussions, focus groups, surveys and questionnaires around the benefits of activities, discussion at club and AGM meetings. The benefits will be identified by evaluations of our activities, programmes and services and feedback from other agencies and stakeholders and partner organisations. We will also monitor information such as participant numbers within sessions, membership, retention of members and links with other programmes, organisations and agencies. The effectiveness and benefits of our activities will be reported upon in our annual report and the annual accounts. There is no harm arising from any of the purposes. The charity’s beneficiaries are principally people living in the Mourne District Electoral Area of Newry Mourne and Down District Council area. We may in the future also develop projects which benefit and address the needs of other groups within the local community, especially those who are disadvantaged. There is no private benefit.

What your organisation does

Valley Rangers FC is volunteer community amateur sports club who offer activities and provide facilities for public benefit in the rural area of Mournes DEA. The main focus of the club is to provide people of all ages and backgrounds both men and women with the opportunity to participate in physical activity. The club organise community programmes

to help local people to enjoy healthier lifestyles and wellbeing. Valley Rangers FC has more than 200 playing members within multiple male and female teams. The club provide a floodlit 3G pitch located at Bignian Park, Ballinran, Kilkeel for sporting activity, the pitch was funded as part of shared space sporting facility scheme for rural areas. Valley Rangers aim to stimulate positive rural community action to provide opportunities to tackle social exclusion and sporting opportunity. The club purpose is to promote benefits for the rural inhabitants in Mourne DEA as an inclusive club, participation in amateur sport and recreation. The club is long established (1973) providing a social & recreational focal point in a rural community, the primary activities of the club ensure rural dwellers do not feel socially isolated and the club have become a source of community cohesion.

Charitable purposes

The Club is established to: * Provide opportunities to gain training in the skills of Amateur Football. * Arrange competitive games for all teams playing under its name. * Encourage people to participate in Amateur Sport – encouraging people of all ages and abilities to engage in football, promoting health, well-being, and social inclusion. * Promotion of social inclusion and community cohesion – bringing together individuals from different backgrounds to reduce social isolation, promote good relations, and strengthen community bonds.
