Public benefits
We advance equality and diversity by creating a safe space and meeting point for LGBTQ+ Women in our district. In running LGBTQ+ meet-ups and Pride events we promote diversity and equality, and create opportunities for LGBTQ+ people to network, to be seen and to be celebrated and recognised in their community thereby reducing social isolation and
improving the mental health and wellbeing of members of the LGBTQ+ community. There is no harm arising from the purposes. We aim for our mission to bring only positive outcomes to our community. The general public including members of the LGBTQ+ community, are the beneficiaries. Our members and those of the LGBTQ+ community in Newry, M&D benefit from having some representation and opportunities for socialising and building our community. It also benefits the wider public to see and mix with the LGBTQ+ community as this reduces stigma and prevents discriminatory beliefs from festering, thereby creating a more inclusive society. It is good for the city. It can boost tourism and the economy to have events running in the district which people will travel for. It also boosts the reputation of the area as it is more clearly visible as an inclusive and welcoming place for all.
