Public benefits
The direct benefits flowing from the club's purposes are: - Strength and cardiovascular health improvements associated with the physical activity of paddling. - Positive mental well-being benefits associated with being on or near water. - Providing an alternative sporting option for those that do not participate in the local male only GAA
club. - Increased opportunities to bring people together from different communities/backgrounds/beliefs/abilities, leading to greater social cohesion and fulfilment. - A more stable and cohesive community as members help organise and run local events, integrating them further into the community. - Continuing to attract participants for taster sessions during one of the village's biggest events, the Cushendun Maritime Festival. - Enhanced quality of life and sense of well-being through engagement with and participation in paddling activities. - Enhanced active citizenship and involvement in community life, especially in an isolated rural community with poor local transport options and little local provision for extracurricular activities outside of GAA. - Providing a welcoming and safe space for members to learn about mental health. - Ensure every club member or participant in club activities/taster sessions feels treated as an equal. - Raising funds to purchase equipment for the club, both safety and paddling equipment. - This will allow us to provide equipment for our junior members, removing any financial impediments to them becoming members and participating in activities. The benefits above can be demonstrated by: - Increasing the number of club members - Increasing the number of certified club instructors - Acquiring club equipment to allow participation by members who do not have their own - Recording the numbers of physical disabilities declared by club members - Gathering feedback from club members and participants of taster sessions. - Evaluation of club's performance at each year-end committee meeting. There is no harm arising from any of the purposes. Inhabitants of Cushendun and the surrounding Glens area. General public attending taster sessions. There is no private benefit flowing from any of the purposes.
