Public benefits

The work of the John McCann Foundations meets the public benefit requirement as defined by charity law by addressing key areas of public need and delivering tangible, positive outcomes for individuals and communities. 1. Advancing Health and Wellbeing The foundation provides financial, emotional, and practical support to artists, performers, and

creators facing severe health challenges. This assistance helps alleviate stress, promotes recovery, and improves overall wellbeing. By supporting individuals in regaining their health, the foundation contributes to a healthier and more resilient arts community. 2. Supporting the Arts and Cultural Community Artists play a vital role in inspiring and enriching society. However, those working in the arts often face financial instability, making it difficult to cope with unexpected health crises. By offering targeted support, the John McCann Foundations ensures that artists can recover and continue their invaluable contribution to cultural life. This not only benefits the individuals but also strengthens the cultural fabric of society. 3. Relief of Financial Hardship Health issues and injuries can lead to significant financial difficulties, particularly for self-employed artists or those on precarious incomes. The foundation offers grants to cover medical expenses, living costs, or other essential needs, reducing the burden of financial stress. This ensures that beneficiaries can focus on their recovery without the added strain of financial insecurity. 4. Education and Advocacy The foundation raises awareness about the unique challenges faced by individuals in the arts community regarding health and wellbeing. By partnering with healthcare providers, arts organisations, and other charities, the John McCann Foundations works to improve understanding, foster collaboration, and create long-term solutions that benefit both artists and the wider community. 1.
