What your organisation does
We do this by promoting all our charitable community initiatives, language and culture, and assistance with participation in health and wellbeing and community programmes in Cookstown, with the object of improving the conditions of life for people living in our community. Further to this, the charity works to promote the advancement of civic
pride, education and to stimulate and create interest in the Irish and Gaelic culture for the benefit of the local community, particularly but not exclusively by assistance with the presentation of performances, programmes and cultural events. Examples of how we do this is by providing opportunities for young people to learn and partake in health and wellbeing programmes through exercise. We also deliver cultural programmes throughout the year. For example, we are currently running after school programmes for young people twice per week, as well as adult Irish language classes. A large element of our community work recently here in Cookstown is to support our elderly community and persons who are living alone and/or unemployed by providing them opportunities to become active in community activities and programmes such as introduction to exercise, and physical activity.
