Public benefits

The direct benefits flowing from Reclaim the Agenda's purposes are the advancement of human rights and the promotion of equality and diversity. We aim to advance human rights, particularly for women and girls, through raising awareness of equality issues for women in Northern Ireland and their communities leading to increased participation in civic

life. Our work also enhances knowledge and awareness of human rights and equality issues for the NI public at large We promote equality and diversity by undertaking activities aimed at eliminating discrimination on the grounds of age, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, religion, race, political opinion or disability, with a particular focus on how this discrimination is experienced by women and girls. We are striving for- A life free from poverty A life free from discrimination To have healthcare services that meet our particular needs A life free from domestic and sexual violence and abuse To live in a world where women are equally represented as decision makers To have access to good, affordable and flexible childcare How can the benefits identified above be demonstrated? Reclaim the Agenda organises two annual marches and programmes of events, around International Women's Day in March and the International Day to End Violence Against Women and Girls in November. These events provide a platform to raise awareness of human rights and equality issues and create opportunities for increased participation in civic life. The benefits are demonstrated through widespread participation of different groups, a diverse range of events in the programmes, and increased public awareness for example through both traditional and social media content. Along side these annual flag ship events Reclaim the Agenda also organises ad hoc events responding to human rights and equality issues in line with our 6 key aims and takes part in relevant festivals. There is no harm arising from any of the purposes. The beneficiaries are the membership of the Reclaim the Agenda as well as the wider community. There is no private benefit that is not incidental or necessary. The private benefit of payment of staff or persons with professional expertise where this is necessary in the promotion of the charity’s purposes and the furtherance of the charity’s objectives.

What your organisation does

Reclaim the Agenda connects and mobilises women to promote feminist activism through education, campaigning and celebration. Reclaim the Agenda is a coalition of feminist, youth, LGBTQ+ & community organisations. We want a world where all women are safe and secure to reach their potential and have an active role in society and all women can be

active change makers and have equal access to power. We are striving for- A life free from poverty A life free from discrimination To have healthcare services that meet our particular needs A life free from domestic and sexual violence and abuse To live in a world where women are equally represented as decision makers To have access to good, affordable and flexible childcare We do this through community education, engaging with decision makers and creating a platform to increase the visibility of marginalised women. We organise and promote the annual International Women's Day march and events, and the 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence including the Reclaim the Night Belfast March.
