Public benefits

The benefits are to provide an Islamic Centre in Cookstown. There is no place in Cookstown for those of the Muslim faith to come together to pray, to meet, educate our children & adults. No place to support & meet those of the Muslim faith. Our growing community need a charitable organisation to provide a basic right to worship & come together to

practice our religion, cultures & practices. Our children & parents need this benefit. Demonstrated by 50 persons in Cookstown that need a place to pray & worship, including women & children. There is no centre in Cookstown that allows those of the Muslim faith to come together & pray. There is no harm. We want to exercise our basic human right to pray & worship in our religion. we know there are people in our society that are ignorant of our faith and culture and we aim to tackle that issue by engaging with the local community & dispelling myths & misunderstandings. Direct beneficiaries are 50 members that meet weekly to pray. The community will benefit as a whole from our presence & contribution. No private or individual benefit.

Charitable purposes

The Association is established to: 2.1 promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the Mid Ulster and its environs (hereinafter described as the area of benefit) without distinction of age, disability, gender, race, political, religious or other opinion, by associating the statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education, and to provide facilities in the interests of community development, recreation or other leisure time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants. 2.2 to establish or secure the establishment of a community centre (hereinafter called the centre) and to maintain and manage or to co-operate with and local statutory authority in the maintenance and management of such a centre for activities promoted by the Association and its constituent bodies in furtherance of the above objects 2.3 to advance the Islamic faith and cultural traditions within Cookstown and its environs, in particular by providing a place for religious worship, prayer, and religious education.
