Public benefits

Foster more extended relationships between staff, parents and others associated with the school The benefit which flows from this purpose includes funding for additional resources for the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through having an active PTA that works in partnership with the school and engages parental

support. Engage in activities which support the school and advance the education of pupils attending it. The benefit is increased educational progress and attainment of pupils of the school. This benefit is demonstrated by the pupils of the school having access to events and resources which are not available through direct school funding. The treasurer shall submit an audited balance sheet at the Annual General Meeting (held in the Autumn Term) for the previous year and the secretary shall report on the year’s activities. Committee Meetings shall be held at least once each term. All money raised from various fundraising events shall be used exclusively for the benefit of the School and it’s pupils. We firmly believe that parents need to be kept informed on a regular basis. Updates on PTA fundraising events are provided through the School NI app, Monthly newsletters, facebook page, school website & local press. • This purpose does not lead to harm. The benefit is for the children at Kilrea Primary School having access to events and resources which are not available through direct school funding from the Department of Education Charity trustees (PTA committee members) are usually also parents at the school which their children attend and hence gain benefit in the same way as all other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries.

What your organisation does

• Our PTA is made up of a group of 12-14 members: 2 teachers, 2 parent governors & 8-10 parent representatives who are elected annually at our AGM. As an elected committee, members are entitled to attend meetings, vote on proposed ideas and make suggestions for spending or raising funds. The main objective of the Association is to work in

partnership with the school and parents to enhance the education and wellbeing of Kilrea Primary School pupils by providing resources and activities for the children in addition to that provided by the Education and Library Board. Each year in September we ask the Principal and teaching staff to consider their wish list and strive in partnership with them to purchase the items/resources that will ensure the maximum benefit to all our pupils. Kilrea Primary School PTA plays an important role in the life of the school and assists in a number of ways: - o Fundraising for resources and equipment, to date this has included updating & replacing IT equipment, PC’s, IPADS, interactive white boards, data projectors, contribution towards trips, classroom resources, playground play resources. – o Links with the wider community. The PTA is on hand to provide refreshments at social events and host community events. o Provide additional support during school events Achieving this is only possible through the commitment and enthusiasm of our committee members and the great band of volunteers, who all work tirelessly in support of the school and wider community.
