Membership is open to anyone that wants to join/ learn. 2. The direct benefit for purpose 2
is the high standard of musicianship attained by our members, and in particular the accelerated development of novice players, which translates into high quality rehearsals and performances for the public. 3. The direct benefit for purpose 3 is that good relationships are fostered with other musical organisations, so that we can help and encourage each other in promoting music in Northern Ireland. 4. The direct benefit for purpose 4 is that the cultural lives of the general public of Northern Ireland will be enriched with high quality musical performances. Also the increased reputation of Northern Ireland as a country that produces world class musicians and musical performances of artistic merit. 1. The benefit for purpose 1 is demonstrated by the high levels of attendance at rehearsals and the attraction of new players to the band. 2. The benefit for purpose 2 is demonstrated by our continual updating of repertoire and the support we get from the public during and after performances, and the success in contests in Northern Ireland, Great Britain and abroad. 3. The benefit for purpose 3 is demonstrated through our inclusive nature of our organisation, through the cooperation with other musical groups through the use of guest players from many local bands, and many of our concerts are joint ventures with other organisations. 4. The benefit for purpose 4 can be demonstrated through the feedback from the general public and audience members who have listened to our performances. Also from the band regularly representing Northern Ireland in contests in other parts of the United Kingdom and Europe, and regular radio broadcasts and uploads of our live performances on YouTube. Is there any harm arising from the purposes? None Who are the organisation’s beneficiaries? Membership is open to anyone that wants to join/ learn. The beneficiaries are the members themselves in terms of provision of instruments, music, tuition and rehearsal facilities, and the general public in terms of the appreciation of high-quality brass band musicianship. What your organisation does
The primary focus of our organisation is the promotion of brass band music and the musical education and development of our members, plus providing a social outlet for members. Membership is open to anyone that wants to join/ learn. To achieve this the Senior Band meet regularly for rehearsals (twice weekly minimum) working on the rudiments of
brass playing, ensemble techniques, contest and concert music and the theory of music (notation, reading, performance etc.). We also perform numerous public concerts and provide the music for civic and community events throughout the year including charitable events. Finally we also compete against other bands in contests of various formats throughout the year furthering the development and reach of the individual members and the group. We are a subscription based organisation and tuition is provided by experienced volunteers on a one to one basis within the group plus a conductor/musical director who is paid expenses. Our constitution details how we carry out these purposes.
