Public benefits
The Parent Teacher Association is a group of parents, teachers and friends who meet regularly to plan events and activities to raise funds for the school. The PTA raises school standards – parents want to be involved in their children’s education and want them to succeed. Giving parents their voice provides fresh insight into school improvements
and PTA meetings are a forum to voice any concerns and provide their perspectives. The PTA improves home-school communications – the PTA provides an open line of communication between parents and schools. Having a PTA working with the school on initiatives can benefit with the promotion of fundraising events, issues the school is having, or just general discussions parents need to be aware of. For a successful PTA to thrive, it must bring parents and teachers together to support the school. The PTA keeps parents informed about how the school works, upcoming events and issues the school has come across. It helps the school to consistently improve and ensures the parent voice is heard. These benefits will be demonstrated by educational progress and attainment of the pupils through having access to resources, events, activities which are not available through direct school funding; and having an active PTA that works in partnership with the school and engages parental support, and links with the local community. There is no harm arising from the purposes of the association. The benefit is for the pupils of St Patrick’s and St Brigid’s Primary School and Nursery. Charity trustees (PTA committee members) are usually also parents at the school which their children attend and hence gain benefit in the same way as all other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all the beneficiaries. There is no harm arising from any of the purposes.
What your organisation does
The PTA is a group of parents, teachers and friends who meet regularly to plan events and activities to raise funds for the school to provide students with extra opportunities and experiences which the school budget doesn’t cover. Money raised from these events can go towards school trips or purchasing devices to optimise children’s learning. The
PTA will allocate where the funds are spent with guidance from the school.
