Public benefits

The children develop their social skills though interaction with those of their own age; Staff can identify any developmental problems and we can flag this with the relevant agencies to ensure early intervention and support thus giving the child the best start in life; parents and carers are better off as they too increase their social interaction;

Through the 6 areas of learning the children are learning a wide range of skills: improving their language; their physical agility; they are making friends with children their own age and increasing their problem solving skills. Parents also benefit from attending events throughout the year to celebrate the children's progress and achievements. The benefits are demonstrated by developing an individual plan for each child. The children are observed on a daily basis and these observations are fed into the planning for the next week. Any child that is identified as needing additional help has an IEP (Individual Education Plan). These are discussed at staff meetings and further plans put in place to support the child; parents are offered 3 reports throughout the year to get feedback on how the child is progressing; scrapbooks are made to show the child's progress. We are also visited by Social Services annually and ETI (Education & Training Inspectorate) can call unannounced There is no harm arising from this purpose The children and their families from Greencastle and the surrounding area A private benefit may arise occasionally through attendance at training for management committees and management committee members may gain skills that are transferable to other settings, these benefits are incidental and necessary to the provision of the benefit to our beneficiaries.

What your organisation does

Green Elves Playgroup provides education and social interaction for children age 3-4 in the rural area of Greencastle. We offer a broad based curriculum through the six different areas of learning - the Arts; PSE (Personal Social Emotional); Early Mathematical Skills; Physical Development; the World around us and Language Development. We bring in

a range of external agencies to ensure the children's developmental needs are met. We employ three staff and have an average of 20 children each year. We are located opposite the local Primary School and have excellent links with them enabling children to move through the transition to Primary School. We have excellent outdoor facilities which enables the children to develop their physical skills and emotional wellbeing.
