[What are the direct benefits flowing from your organisation's purposes?] Increase in number of local residents using the centre. Increase in number of local residents participating in developmental programmes, with the aim of reducing social exclusion, which will bring about increased resilience, empowerment of, improved social cohesion of
residents across all age groups. [How can the benefits identified above be demonstrated?] Evidence via annual reports, reports to funders, participation surveys, community consultations. [Is there any harm arising from any of the purposes?] The benefits outweigh any potential harm. To mediate against any potential harm GCC ensures that all our policies and procedures are to the highest standard, in areas such as health and safety, development of risk assessments, that staff are suitably trained and qualified across all relevant areas of management and delivery, that staff are trained in fire safety, first aid and child protection procedures are in place. Any external service providers will also be checked to ensure they have the relevant qualifications and standards of delivery to use and work in GCC. [Who are the charity's beneficiaries?] To benefit all local residents regardless of age. [Is there any private benefit flowing from any of the purposes? Is it incidental and necessary?] A private benefit to our volunteers may arise in respect of providing ongoing training and support in first aid, child protection, health and safety training, youth work, mediation, rights based work and in areas deemed relevant to delivery within the centre. Through this training they gain skills and experience which are transferable to the centre and participants in programmes. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to those using the centre.
What your organisation does
Galliagh Community Centre (GCC) brings community groups together to share resources, ideas and projects to deliver programmes and services for the Galliagh Community. GCC aims to engage local residents of all ages into the centre and to provide a programme of social and recreational services that meets the needs of the community. GCC sets out a
strategic approach to developing services, enhancing the local infrastructure and campaigning for social and physical change for Galliagh.
