The direct benefits flowing from the purposes of Glenelly Community Parent & Toddler Group , is that children 0-3 years old and their families from, including parents/guardians and the wider community of the Glenelly Valley provide community facilities where they can come together and encourage young children to learn, play and develop. It is open
to all inhabitants without distinction of age, religious or political background, economic means in an area which has been severely segregated by the troubles. Children benefit from learning to play and interact with others to promote individual development and progression. Parents benefit from reduced rural and social isolation caused by living in the rural Sperrins. They learn skills related to effectively running a community organisation including governance, fund raising , financial management and general administration. They also benefit from the mutual support they give each other as well as information and support from health, early years and educational professionals visiting the group. Our community benefits by creating responsible parents who see the advantages of being part of the community and how community involvement develops individuals as well as communities. Another direct benefit is improved communication which promotes social interaction for the children, parents/gaurdians, their families, health, early years and educational professionals and the wider community. The benefits are measured by the number of families who make use of the facility, the feedback which is obtained from both children and parents on a regular basis and the evaluations which are conducted annually. We also gather feedback from local groups as well as early years health and education specialist about the noted benefits they have seen and experiences as a results of local families using the facilities. There is no harm flowing any of the purposes of this group The beneficiaries of the Charity are children aged 0-3 years, their parents/guardians families, health, early years and educational professionals and the wider community. There are no private benefits flowing from any of Glenelly Community Parents and Toddler group.
What your organisation does
Glenelly Community Parent and Toddler group is a community run, non-profit making group which serves the needs of all children 0-3 years, their parents/guardians and families in the Glenelly Valley area, without distinction of age, gender, marital status, disability, sexual orientation, nationality, ethnic identity, political or religious opinion,
by associating the statutory authorities, community and voluntary organisations and the inhabitants in a common effort to advance the child and their parents / carers, and in particular: a. to promote the advancement of play and social contact for all of the beneficiaries by the provision of safe and satisfying group play, with the right of parents/carers to take responsibility for and to become involved in the activities of the group; and to promote the preservation of health of the beneficiaries; and b. to support the values and principles of Early Years. c. to provide support and information to all parents / carers involved with the group and to encourage greater parental involvement in community life. d. to share information, improve communication and provide communication networks for parents and carers. The group normally operates one day per week on a Monday 9.30-11.30am (term time) at the groups premises, based behind Pinkertons Shop, above Solitaire Unisex Hair Studio based in Plumbridge Village. The group is run by a voluntary management committee made up parents/guardians from the Glenelly valley area.
