Public benefits
A direct benefit of providing: • counselling for children from the ages of 4-18 - is that they will be more able to process difficult emotions and learn new ways of thinking and connecting with peers and family. This will also help avoid serious mental health problems in later life and help them grow. • a safe and accessible counselling service in
a rural area - is that they can avail of support locally rather than having to make a long commute to an urban setting where most of the support is currently situated. It raises public awareness of mental health issues in rural settings and the support available in that local area. • holistic support for families is that it takes a systematic approach to child therapy and involves multiple stakeholders including parents and carers. This is achieved by giving support and advice for them where appropriate, which directly and indirectly benefits the child. • educational and mental wellbeing sessions in the local area is that learning can be provided for the parents and other adults through the dissemination of information, education and advice about children’s well-being and child development issues. This directly benefits the child and all involved through more appropriate interventions. • local sessions for parents is that it brings together people who can share individual experiences and provide support to each other and learn from each other’s experiences • a safe space to discuss and process experiences is to enable individuals to work through difficult and traumatic experiences in appropriate and welcoming environment when safety is a key factor for this to succeed • a mental health hub in a rural area to offer training, is that it can help parents and other adults to understand about child development and other issues affecting their children. • information and advice about counselling is that it allows everyone in the child’s life to support them with any changes that need to happen and provides resources These benefits are (will be) demonstrated through... “Core evaluation” sheets are used for each therapy session to provide assessment and evaluation information and scores for the individual counselling sessions. Final evaluation forms will be used at the end of the agreed counselling to help evaluate the effectiveness of the interventions. Evaluation sheets will be used to assess effectiveness of the training and groupwork and the information gathered will be reviewed with the trustees to evaluate the work. The purpose of the charity will not lead to harm.
